In 2010 Friends of Pelican Park became a limited company (07207520) then in May 2015 a registered charity (1161532) with the charities commission. In 2018 the Charity gained a 25-year lease from the local authority for the premises known at Pelican Park. This allowed the us to develop and attract large amounts of funding to improve much needed sports facilities and increase community participation.
During COVID the team at Pelican Park supported local families with regular food parcels and continue to do so due to the Cost of Living Crisis. Many families are struggling to make ends meet, which is why we are here to support young families, making sure no child suffers from food poverty in our local community.

Netball is a great sport that brings individuals into a team environment. Instead of sitting watching TV or playing on the computer, children have the chance to run around on court with other individuals their age which brings a huge variety of benefits both physically and mentally.
Catching and passing a ball each week will also help with children's hand eye coordination and build strength in their upper body.
As well as this, netball teaches children skills they can take into the wider world. For example how to problem solve, lead, deal with wins and loses, and enhance their key skills in their roles in the team.
Pelican Park Lego Club starts in March from 4.30pm tp 5.30pm every Wednesday. These creative, building sessions are ideal for children aged 6-14 years wanting to get creative and have some fun!
